My Fuzzy Farm Babies by Tad Hills

Isabella is 11 weeks old and today we read our first touch and feel book called My Fuzzy Farm Babies by Tad Hills. The book goes through 5 different farm animals, giving you a sentence or two on each one. Each animal also has a bit of material that's meant to feel like it, for example the horse has some fuzzy hair that's supposed to feel like a mane. Isabella enjoyed the artwork because the pictures were big and bold. She also especially liked the goat's wooly coat against her cheek. She smiled several times as she felt all the different textures. I think this book was very appropriate for her as she's getting to an age where she likes touching everything and interacting with her books.

Five Little Monkeys With Nothing To Do by Eileen Christelow

Today we read Five Little Monkeys With Nothing To Do by Eileen Christelow. The book is one of several in the Five Little Monkeys series. This one was about the monkeys completing chores for their mother because they had nothing to do and their Grandma Bessie was coming over. The monkeys clean throughout the book and then at the last minute they got muddy footprints all over the place. The storyline is very cute and good for a parent trying to encourage their children to help around the house. Isabella loved the artwork in the book and looked at all the pages closely as I turned them. She was also very vocal as I read the book and tried to interact. Overall, it was a fun story time today! :)

Hippos Go Berserk! by Sandra Boynton

Today Isabella and I read Hippos Go Berserk! by Sandra Boynton. The book counts hippos that are going to a party and then counts them down until only 1 hippo is remaining. I thought this book would hold Isabella's attention because the colors were bright and the phrases rhymed, unfortunately it didn't. She was still happy, but she was easily distracted by the window next to us. I think this book might be a little better for her when she's older and can use it to help learn her numbers.

Princess Baby, Night-Night by Karen Katz

Today we read Princess Baby, Night Night by Karen Katz. The story is about a little girl that's supposed to be getting ready for bed, but instead she's getting her stuffed animals ready for bed. In the end, Princess Baby falls asleep surrounded by her animals. Isabella is 10 weeks old and she was captivated by the bright colors and fun pictures. About half-way through she got a huge smile on her face and she kept it throughout the story. The words and tone of the book are very calming. I would recommend this book to parents that want to read before bedtime as a  sleep ritual.
